Originating in New Zealand, Random Acts of Kindness Day is celebrated on February 17th here in the United States. The internationally recognized Random Acts of Kindness Foundation was built upon the belief that kindness is powerful and life-changing. The movement has swept across the globe and gained in popularity over time. All who participate in the day report that while it is special to be the recipient of a random act of kindness, it is even more meaningful to be the one giving. Here at Casas Adobes Flower Shop, we believe that kindness can be shown every day, and have many ideas as to how to make people smile – with flowers!

How do you observe Random Acts of Kindness Day? Simply look for ways to be kind and helpful throughout the day, and don’t forget to share your experiences with others on social media. #RandomActsOfKindnessDay

There are two basic genres of a random act of kindness. Spontaneous random acts of kindness may include helping someone carry their groceries to their car if you see them struggling, holding open the door for passersby, or paying for someone’s meal at the fast food drive through. Other “random acts” may include a bit of preparation- for instance, you can buy a bouquet of daisies before going to run your errands, then hand out single flowers to random people you meet throughout the day. Perhaps you could bake a batch of cookies and drop them off at a nurse’s station at the local hospital. Or how about a bringing a balloon bouquet to a nursing home and handing out cheerful balloons to the residents?

Whether a smile and a compliment to the cashier while checking out, or a fresh arrangement of beautiful flowers for your child’s teacher, the ways to make someone’s day happier are endless.
