Veterans Day Flowers

veterans dayCelebrated yearly on November 11, Veterans Day remembers the anniversary of the end of World War I; and was originally established to honor only the veterans of “The Great War”. Eventually the holiday was expanded to include vets from both World War II and the Korean War; subsequently all living veterans included in being honored on this day. Currently there are nearly 20 million veterans living in the United States; approximately half of those are over 65. There are estimated to be 39,890 surviving veterans from World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War; the rest are from more modern day conflicts.

While Memorial Day remembers those deceased, Veterans Day celebrates our living service members. However, many people do choose to visit and decorate the gravesides of their loved ones on this day as well. Parades are often emotional events fueled with patriotic pride, as brave military men and women who span the century both attend and participate in these parades.
