Thanksgiving is a holiday rich with tradition, and we’re here for it. Casas Adobes Flower Shop welcomes all of the fall flowers in their rich, rustic colors, as well as the leaves, berries, twigs and anything else from the forest floor that finds its way to us. We love working with the new textures and looks that the holiday season ushers in. It should come as no surprise to anyone, then, that we’re big fans of the Thanksgiving centerpiece.
Floral centerpieces have been around since antiquity, so when you’re placing that arrangement at the heart of your table, you’re participating in a ritual that’s been going since 2,500 BCE. Talk about traditional. Occasionally, the standard floral centerpiece for Thanksgiving can feel a little, well, antique. Which is why we’ve reworked it.
While we love a traditional table – don’t get us wrong – it’s fun to breathe new life into the institution of the centerpiece. We devised Glow of Gratitude with that in mind. This piece feels like it belongs here in Tucson and is bustling with interesting items: sunset-orange birds of paradise, rust-colored mums, feathers, sunflowers and more. Two taper candles rise from this definite conversation piece to cast a warm glow over the table.
Since centerpieces need to maintain a low profile (your guests need to be able to see each other around the table, after all), if they are in a container, like this rustic wood rectangle we’ve got here, they need to be fairly compact. See how our Fall Chic makes use of horizontal vs. vertical impact? And yet, it still feels contained and organized. The fiery palette here is seasonal for sure but reads as modern, too.
Spend this Thanksgiving counting your blessings over a chic centerpiece that invites interest and brings life to the table. Your guests will thank you for the new view on a cherished tradition.
