Did you know the very first Father’s Day was one that was gripped in tragedy? The history of Father’s Day is much richer than a simple card once a year. In 1908, a movement was started to honor over 200 men who died in the worst mining explosion in American history. The event left over 1,000 children fatherless, so the men were remembered on the third Sunday in June in a Methodist Church in Fairmont, West Virginia.
